923 North Ridge

On Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, 1982, we moved into a house at 923 North Ridge. This move had to be timed with surgeon-like precision, because we were trading houses with the Mosleys. So on Friday we sent the kids to Donna's and everyone else we knew came and helped us pack. Mom kept the kids for dinner and overnight, while we worked very late, packing up their beds and all.

On Saturday, we had twice as many people we know come and help, and we finished loading the U-Haul while Richard & Sian took the greeny-green carpet the Mosleys didn't want, and their vinyl-flooring guy scraped the vinyl flooring out of the kitchen. So we drove our belongings to the Ridge house as the Mosleys moved theirs to the Rose house, and then after a pizza-and-root-beer lunch, we unpacked. I was forced to not overdo it, since Karren was only a month old, so lots of help made it possible.

The house at Ridge was a great house in lots of ways. It had an atrium in the middle of the house, which faced onto the front entry, the family room, the master bedroom hall, and the master bedroom. There were 4 bedrooms total, a living room/dining room, a family room, a smallish corridor kitchen with orange counter tops and a dinette area, a laundry room & 2+ bathrooms. The backyard was large and fenced, just right for small children to run and play in. On the whole, we were very pleased with our new house.

Was that the house with the big staircase and balcony inside? I remember a house like that. Unless we moved after this before I was brought about...

no, you never lived at this house. I think you're remembering the house on Nance. We'll get to that one.
