Sleepy Stu

When we put together pictures of Stuart for his graduation poster, I was struck with how many of them were pictures of him asleep. He had a gift, when he was very small, for falling asleep in unusual places. One day when he was nowhere to be found, we discovered him asleep, stretched out across the seats of several kitchen chairs that were tucked neatly under the table. Another time he had crawled into a cupboard with the coloring books and art supplies and dozed off.

One time, though, he really had us going. We checked on the kids early one morning, and he was not in his bed. Or in his room, or anywhere else we could discover. The alarm was still on, so he hadn't left the house...unless he left last night before the alarm was set. We had had a sitter, so we were a little nervous.

We searched high and low, in places usual and not. Finally, as panic was starting to set in, we found him. He had crept into a large turntable cupboard in the kitchen, and there, among the pots and pans, he had settled in for the rest of his night's sleep.
